Point 1881’ is very close to Wenatchee, yet the lack of visitors to this area gives it a feeling of solitude. Making my fifth trip (1999, 2002, 2006, 2010) to this high point recently, I have yet to see others more than a few hundred yards from the parking spot. The up and back option involves about 1200’ of elevation gain and 2-3 hours would be plenty of time to enjoy the ambiance. I did the longer loop option this time that also includes points 2301’ and 2690’. For this loop allow 5-6 hours (about 2000’ elevation gain). Fields of lupine will be in full bloom over the next few weeks. This hike is recommended for folks that are comfortable navigating without constructed trails and don’t mind some steep slopes. Trekking poles are recommended. Details and a map are available from my previous post of this hike in 2006 <http://www.justgetout.net/Wenatchee/post/Point-1881>.
