Trails in the Sage Hills and Horse Lake Reserve areas are now closed for the season (December 1 - April 1). Trails affected by this closure are the main Sage Hills Trail from 5th Street/ Day Drive, the Maiden Lane access trail, Balsamroot, Homestead, Lone Fir Spur, Apricot Crisp, connections to Twin Peaks, Glacier View, all ranch roads on Horse Lake Reserve beyond the County road, and any other unauthorized trails on the PUD's Home Water Preserve. This closure is to protect habitat for migratory mule deer herds that use the foothills for winter foraging grounds.

New this year, the Dry Gulch Preserve to the south of Saddle Rock is also closed December 1 - April 1. This was a decision made by the managers of Dry Gulch Preserve and its affiliate, Appleatchee Riders Association. If you have questions or concerns about this closure, please contact Dry Gulch representative Stan Sawyer (snoop2005@nwi.net).

Saddle Rock, Jacobson, Castle Rock, and Horse Lake Road up to the Horse Lake Trailhead remain open for non-motorized use year-round.
