    Wenatchee Foothills Skiing

Nice little refresh to the foothills skiing with yesterday's 3 inches of powder. North facing slopes are firm (icy) below the new snow. It's firms and glazed enough below the new show that it's hard to sink an edge. I didn't think to bring the ski crampons and ended up booting up one of the steeper pitches on my morning rounds. Despite the somewhat funky conditions (made funkier by wind impacting the higher slopes) the skiing was fun, particularly on lower angle slopes where the skis could run flat and didn't need to edge to control speed.

Longest foothills skiing season in years.

Skied with my dogs and Luke up in the Twin Peaks area this morning. I skinned to the USGS precip gauge on the high point above the meadow. Skied three laps on W-SW aspects in up to 6" of snow with some deeper wind drifts and areas scoured to the rain crust. Snow quality deteriorated each laps, it was warm. Fun skiing though. Herky-Jerky on the road back to the truck. If we get a stretch of cool clear weather I think the corn up there will be great in the next few weeks.

Nice. Agree about the corn. Could be an unprecedented foothills year with both a powder and a corn season.

Aaron, The corn season is on. Nice south-side run late this afternoon. Snow is granular and skis nicely. Getting thin in places so it may not last long with these temps.
Some mystical moments during the ski today.
